In 2002 while watching the news, a group of veterans and brothers were moved by the difficult stories of the first wounded service members returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq. More than brass bands and ticker tape parades were needed.

Why?

  • Over 40,000 members of our nation's armed forces have been physically wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan
  • It is estimated that more than 300,00 will suffer the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) (2007 RAND survey)

 

Who is Ooh La La?

  • Ooh La La Christmas Home Tour in New Mexico, Inc. (OLL), a 501(c)(3), was founded in February 2009 with its mission to help fund and promote awareness of organizations that support the needs of severely injured service men and women and became a Proud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).

 

 

What is Wounded Warrior Project?

  • WWP is a non-profit, nonpartisan organization headquartered in Jacksonville, Fl. whose mission is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded warriors in this nation's history.
  • The funds raised for WWP will support thousands from the battlefield to the bedside, and beyond.
  • WWP programs help our injured troops across the country with everything from adaptive sports, combat stress recovery, benefits counseling services, education, employment services and much needed respite retreats for devoted caregivers.
  • WWP receives no state or federal funding.

OLL 2009 Accomplishment

  • Starting with a modest goal to raise $25,000, in just nine shot months OLL raised $386,000, with the help of generous New Mexicans.
